Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming real-time strategy (RTS) title, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite game serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 hit, Herodom. A part-time developer, Frenken dedicated roughly two years to Battledom's development, aiming to realize his original vision for Herodom.
Battledom offers players dynamic RTS combat mechanics, enabling the free movement of units across the game map. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations further enhance the gameplay experience.
Players earn coins to recruit units, initially equipped with only basic weapons and no armor. However, customization options allow players to equip units with a variety of weapons and armor pieces, impacting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
These items aren't found through exploration; instead, they must be crafted within the player's village. Gathering resources like wood, leather, and coal is essential for crafting at the blacksmith, magician, or other village crafters.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which boasts a 4.6 App Store rating. This game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For the latest updates and information, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. His other games are also available on the App Store.
