Atelier Resleriana Global EOS Announcement: Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game has reached its end of service (EOS). Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator has officially announced its shutdown. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have confirmed that this RPG will be closing its global servers soon.

It's important to note that only the global version is being discontinued. The game launched globally in January 2024 and unfortunately didn’t achieve the success the developers had hoped for. We’ll explore the reasons behind this decision in more detail shortly.

On the other hand, the Japanese version continues to thrive. It originally launched in September 2023 and is currently preparing for its 1.5th-anniversary event in March 2025. This contrast may seem ironic, but it highlights the difference in reception between the two versions.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

Mark your calendars—the final day for the global version will be March 28, 2025. Interestingly, this is the same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5-year milestone.

While Japanese players progress into Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players are wrapping up Chapter 21 (Part 1). The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but existing Lodestar Gems can still be used until shutdown.

Koei Tecmo has also stated that new content and events will continue to roll out until the very last day.

Here’s another twist: the global version just celebrated its one-year anniversary on January 25, 2025. A bittersweet milestone indeed.

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The development team issued a statement explaining that they were unable to maintain the game at a level that met player expectations. As a result, they made the difficult decision to shut down the global servers.

From the start, the game struggled to stand out. Just a few months after launch, players began voicing concerns about the gacha system. Although the main characters were well-designed and engaging, the gameplay mechanics and monetization model failed to impress.

Additionally, issues like power creep made progression feel unbalanced and frustrating over time. These factors ultimately contributed to the decision to end service for the global version of Atelier Resleriana.

If you'd like to give the game a final try, it’s still available on the [Google Play Store]. Alternatively, you might enjoy checking out the latest event from another popular title: Sky: Children of the Light, which is celebrating Lunar New Year 2025 with its “Days of Fortune” event.
