In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, players have access to five essential tools, with two unlocked through story progression. Let's delve into each tool and their functionalities:

Grappling Hook

Naoe's Grappling Hook is a game-changer for exploration. It enables you to latch onto structures and ascend without needing handholds, perfect for scouting enemy positions from high vantage points. Additionally, it allows you to swing across vast gaps, enhancing your mobility.

Kunai

The Kunai is a lethal throwing knife that excels in silent eliminations. It's perfect for taking out regular enemies instantly, but for armored foes, upgrades are essential to ensure effectiveness.

Smoke Bomb

The Smoke Bomb is versatile, serving both defensive and offensive purposes. It can break enemy line of sight for escapes or be used in combat to disorient foes, setting up opportunities for assassinations and quick strikes.

Shuriken

The Shuriken, a staple for any shinobi, is ideal for navigating heavily guarded areas. While not as potent as the Kunai, it can stagger enemies and trigger environmental interactions like sabotaging alarms or detonating barrels. Its silent nature and potential for ricocheting make it a valuable asset.

Shinobi Bell

The Shinobi Bell is perfect for those who prefer distraction over direct confrontation. Throwing it can divert enemy attention, and with upgrades, it can affect more enemies over a larger area, facilitating better crowd control and path clearing.

All tools, except the Grappling Hook, can be upgraded using Mastery Points via the Tools skill tree. Here’s how you can enhance each tool:

Grappling Hook

The Grappling Hook's only upgrade, Ascension Boost, is found in the Shinobi Tree. For 2 Mastery Points at Knowledge Rank 2, this upgrade significantly speeds up Naoe’s climbing, making ascents stealthier and quicker.

Kunai

Upgrading the Kunai focuses on increasing its damage output. The Kunai Assassination Damage upgrade removes more health with each throw, while the Armor Piercing passive enhances its ability to penetrate armor. Additionally, the Everlast skill allows for immediate retrieval of thrown Kunai without breakage.

Smoke Bomb

Once unlocked, the Smoke Bomb can be upgraded with Enduring Haze to extend its duration by 10 seconds, providing more time for strategic maneuvers. Widespread further expands its area of effect, enhancing its utility in blocking enemy vision.

Shuriken

The Shuriken can be upgraded with Bank Shot, allowing it to bounce between targets with increasing damage per hit. Triple Threat enables you to throw three Shurikens at once for the cost of one, offering more options in stealth and combat scenarios.

Shinobi Bell

Upgrades for the Shinobi Bell include Golden Bell, which enhances its ability to attract enemy attention, and Louder Chimes, which increases its effective radius by five meters, making it more effective at distracting multiple enemies.
