Assassin's Creed Shadows: A March 2025 Release

Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement aims to further refine and polish the game based on player feedback.

The game's journey to release has been marked by two significant delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025, citing a need to ensure the game met quality standards. While the initial delay was partially attributed to concerns about historical accuracy, this second delay specifically focuses on incorporating player feedback. Ubisoft's Vice President and Executive Producer, Marc-Alexis Coté, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience shaped by player input. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial additional time for refinement and polishing.

Release Date: March 20, 2025

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion as compensation. While no similar compensation has been announced for this latest delay, the shorter timeframe may mitigate potential player frustration.

This extended development period may also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player-centricity. The delay could reflect a strategic effort to align with this initiative by directly incorporating fan feedback. While Ubisoft remains a major industry player, recent financial setbacks, including record losses in fiscal year 2023, underscore the importance of delivering high-quality, well-received titles like Assassin's Creed Shadows.
