Stiller and De Niro are returning for their fourth on-screen clash as in-laws. THR sources indicate Blythe Danner and Teri Polo, who appeared in the previous trilogy, are in negotiations to reprise their roles. Though much of the plot remains under wraps, the storyline reportedly focuses on Polo and Stiller's son becoming engaged to a strong-willed woman considered an unsuitable match. Grande is set to portray the fiancée.

Franchise veteran John Hamburg will write and direct Meet the Parents 4. Original director Jay Roach joins as producer alongside De Niro and Jane Rosenthal through Tribeca Productions. Stiller and John Lesher will produce via Red Hour Films, while Hamburg produces through Particular Pictures. Universal executives Matt Reilly and Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project.
