Borderlands 4 Gets Own PlayStation State of Play
PlayStation has officially announced that Borderlands 4 will be the star of its own State of Play today. On April 29, PlayStation shared via Twitter (X) that the dedicated Borderlands 4 State of Play is set to kick off on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. During this eagerly anticipated live stream, Gearbox Software's developers will unveil fresh details about the latest installment in the Borderlands series. As per a PlayStation.blog post dated April 29, the State of Play will feature over 20 minutes of developer-guided gameplay, showcasing missions, an array of deadly weapons, thrilling Action Skills, and both new and returning characters.
Launch Date Moved to September 12
In a thrilling turn of events following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter (X) on April 29 to share that Borderlands 4 is advancing its release date to September 12. Although he initially deleted the video and reposted a message indicating the premature announcement, the excitement was palpable.
Pitchford expressed in his video that the development process has been exceptionally smooth, describing it as "the best scenario." This positive progress has enabled the team to move the launch forward. Initially, during PlayStation's February State of Play, Borderlands 4 was slated for a September 23 release. However, the game's official Twitter (X) account has now confirmed the new launch date, two weeks earlier than planned.
The official post states, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
