Amazon has unveiled a suite of new devices today, including an affordable 4K streaming stick. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select arrives on October 15 for $39.99, undercutting the standard retail price of existing 4K Fire TV Sticks. However, with Amazon's Prime Big Deals sale approaching, it is wise to hold off on purchasing this new model; during the event, pricier versions may drop to the same price or even lower.
The Fire TV Stick 4K is currently marked down to $24.99, while the top-tier 4K Max has been reduced to $39.99. This means you can secure Amazon's premium streaming stick for the exact same cost as the new budget-friendly option right now.

As the budget-friendly option arrives later this month, October Prime Day is shaping up to be the optimal time to purchase these higher-end models at their current rates. By Black Friday, Amazon will likely bundle the newest model more aggressively, potentially driving up standalone prices for the Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max. While speculative, both existing models are currently hitting their lowest price points of 2025, making them excellent buys if you need a streaming stick.
The new Fire TV Stick 4K Select distinguishes itself from previous 4K models by omitting support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.
Although the Fire TV Stick 4K Select boasts a lower Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), this is due to reduced feature sets. It lacks Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and offers only 1GB of storage, but the absence of premium audio and video codecs makes it the inferior choice for many users. If Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision are essential to your setup, you may find the new budget stick lacking.
Regarding other capabilities, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select will support cloud gaming services such as Xbox Game Pass and Amazon Luna, though these features might not be accessible immediately upon launch.
