Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

Krafton has taken a significant step to distance itself from the ongoing legal troubles of Ironmace Studios by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This move primarily involves a name change, likely alongside the removal of certain Dungeons & Dragons-specific elements, in response to the legal battle between Ironmace and Nexon.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Ironmace Studios, founded by former Nexon employees, is facing allegations from Nexon of misusing trade secrets. Nexon claims that Ironmace used assets and ideas developed during their time at the company to create Dark and Darker. The lawsuit continues to unfold, and as we previously reported in February, there were indications that a name change for Dark and Darker Mobile was on the horizon. That prediction has now been realized with the new title, Abyss of Dungeons.

ytNo DifferenceThe rebranding to Abyss of Dungeons fortunately does not alter the core gameplay mechanics. Dark and Darker Mobile was already set to diverge from its original version with a third-person perspective and other modifications, but the gameplay remains intact.

This news might be disappointing for fans of Ironmace. However, there is hope that the studio's legal issues will resolve soon, allowing fans to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons as a companion to the main PC version of Dark and Darker. An upcoming soft launch is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
