Amidst the excitement around Reburn—a new studio formed by former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the creators behind the beloved Metro series—4A Games has reaffirmed its dedication to expanding the Metro franchise. This clarification came in the wake of Reburn’s announcement of their first project, La Quimera, sparking curiosity and questions about the future of Metro.

In a clear and official statement, 4A Games addressed any confusion surrounding their relationship with Reburn, extending their congratulations on La Quimera while firmly reiterating their commitment to the Metro series.

“We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games,” the statement proudly declared. “Our efforts towards the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”

Alongside their work on the next Metro sequel, 4A Games teased progress on an entirely new intellectual property (IP), though details about this project remain under wraps. The studio highlighted their pride in their Ukrainian heritage and the multicultural team behind their creations, noting that a significant portion of their staff—around 150 out of over 200 members—are still based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote setups.

To clarify the organizational split, 4A Games provided further insight:

“Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”

Since the launch of Metro Exodus in early 2019, the series has seen a surge in fan interest, despite relatively few updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s dystopian universe. Supported by Embracer Group (previously THQ Nordic), the studio teased a new Metro title back in 2019, hinting at a "202X" release before going quiet. Now, it seems, the wait might finally be drawing to a close.
